Your videos will be returned to you in a format of your choice to make seeing your memories possible in the digital world. We offer Online Return, USB return or DVD return.

All orders over £30 have free Pickup and Delivery from your doorstep to make your digitisation process as easy as possible. (Note this service is only available for customers in Linlithgow and nearby surrounding area)

Small Cine Film Reel

Small Cine Film reels are the way that videos used to be shot on with shorter reels being common. Between 1950 and 1990 these were used in home camcorders to let families record precious moments. This leaves most people with a large amount of old cine film with priceless family memories that they haven't even seen.

Medium Cine Film Reel

Medium Cine Film reels were used along side small reels to help store the larger amounts of video that was taken. Medium reels allowed longer videos (up to 12 minutes) to make storage easier and allow for viewing on projectors to become much more straight forward as the reel needed to be changed less often removing the inconvenient removal and addition in order to continue watching footage.

Large Cine Film Reel

Large Cine Film reels were only used in cases where families were serious about being able to watch long memories or even short soundless films. These types of reels can often contain many different videos attached together to free up smaller reels so they could be refilled and used to shoot more videos.

VHS Cassette

VHS cassettes offered a more modern way of storing videos when they took off in the 1980s. This allowed for up to four hour videos to be kept and played much more trouble free way than film. VHS cassettes most commonly contain weddings and important events from family's pasts.

Mini DV Cassette

Mini DV was released in 1995 to permit smaller camcorders to record footage and keep it on much smaller cassettes than VHS. Admittedly they only store up to a hour of footage, however mini DV was hugely popular among family's in the 2000s and was commonly used to record their children as they grew up. This allowed teenagers/adults to have a glance at snapshots of their past before phones would begin to capture everything.

DVD

DVDs took off in the 2000s outselling VHS cassettes in 2001 this projected the world into not only a smaller storage format again. They enhanced image data stored on them and created a more reliable storage of videos as they had no internal moving parts. Due to this fact the DVD quickly outsold VHS paving the way for a future of DVD players and DVDs or so we thought...

HI8 Cassette

Hi8 was introduced by Sony in 1989. The Hi8 stood for High-band Video8 and used improved recorder electronics and media formulation to increase the bandwidth of the luminance signal to 2.0 MHz. Hi8 was able to offer 400 lines of horizontal resolution, this resulted in higher quality footage than both 8mm or VHS tapes. Hi8 was a much smaller size than VHS yet was able to provide much better footage which encouraged families to purchase a Hi8 camcorder to shoot their memories on a higher quality film.
